Bascil Sibel , Serinsoz Hulya , Ertorer Eda , Tutuncu Neslihan B

Periodontal disease frequency was screened and compared in 15 acromegalic patients with age and sex matched 50 healthy subjects. Periodontal evaluation included panographic radiography, plaque and gingival index and depth determination and clinical parameters. Estimated disease duration was 2–10 years in acromegalic patients (8 female, 7 male patients, 52±13 years). Five patients on somatostain analog therapy had inactive disease for at least 2 years and 10 patients ...

Objective: Platelet activation is a recently recognized characteristic of prolactin, which functions through the potentiation of ADP-induced P-selectin expression on platelets. Studies in hyperprolactinemic patients demonstrated atherosclerotic disorders related to insulin resistance; convenient milieus for platelet activation. To investigate the association between hyperprolactinemia and platelet activation related to P-selectin expression, we studied on hyperprolactinemic an...

There are limited data inquiring the relationship between somatostatin analogues and insulin sensitivity among acromegalic cases. This study was conducted to evaluate short-term effects of lanreotide autogel (LA), administered every 28 days by deep subcutaneous injection, on insulin sensitivity among acromegalic patients with pituitary tumors. Before and following six months of LA treatment, insulin resistance and beta-cell function were calculated by using homeostasis model a...

Objective: Hereditary pituitary adenomas (PAs) are rare and occur either isolated or as part of a syndrome. Familial isolated pituitary adenoma (FIPA) is the presence of only PA in at least two members of a family, where “Aryl hydrocarbon receptor interacting protein-AIP” gene mutations have been identified in 10-20% of cases. However, the cause of tumorigenesis in the majority is unknown. We aimed to identify novel genetic variants in a cohort of FIPA patie...

Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between basal dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate (DHEA-S) levels and other tests used in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of Cushing’s Syndrome (CS) among the patients with pathologically confirmed CS.Methods: In this multicenter study, the data of 623 patients with CS were evaluated retrospectively. The patients were classified as Group 1 (n = 353 Cushing’s disease;CD), Group 2 (n</e...

Introduction: TURK-MEN study was carried out to evaluate the mutational analysis of so called sporadic MTC patients between 1994 and 2005. Our aim was to evaluate the ret genetic screening results, distribution of mutations among so called sporadic and hereditary MTC patients in Turkey between 2008 and 2012.Methods: Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism of Turkey (SEMT) sponsored ret genetic screening between July 2008 and January 2012 in 513 patients....
